Gemotions

The aroma of freesia filled the air, a scent that normally brought joy to Maya. Now, it was a source of agitation. She had been on edge since morning, and these flowers, with their lack of any identifying note, had amplified her feelings tenfold. She clenched her jaw.

She paced the living room, her steps rapid and uneven. The room felt too small, the air thick with an unspoken message. She glanced at the flowers, then at the phone, then out the window. Who could have sent them?

She grabbed a nearby vase and started removing the flowers, her hands moving at a frantic speed. She needed something to ground her, something to distract from the gnawing question that wouldn't leave her mind.
